Welcome, Della | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here on the old blog. I used to be so diligent about getting posts up after almost every session… but then we started renovating a new house, and then we had twins, and then Covid hit, and then we started another big renovation… and here we are, almost a year since my last newborn post. I had the pleasure of meeting this family back in August for a newborn session in their home. They’d welcomed baby girl #2 into their family, and it was an absolute pleasure documenting this special time for them. Big sister was as precious as she could be, and Della’s nursery was perfectly pink and so darling. Without further ado, here are some (many) favorites from their session. I hope to get back into regularly sharing here again!

Alice is ONE | Atlanta Family & Child Photographer

My favorite niece, Alice, turned one back in February… and then COVID hit right when we were planning to shoot her already a little belated one year photo session. So we pushed it back a couple more months, and it all worked out, because the weather was perfect by then, and Miss Alice was full-on walking. It’s always fun when the one year old is walking (or running!) by the time we do their milestone session. We shot them at my brother and sister-in-law’s beautiful home, just as we did for her 6 month session. I love the continuity of that, and it’s so fun to look back at that previous session to see just how much she and her big brother have grown since last August. There’s not much more I need to say here than just how much I love this little family.

The Name’s Mack | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a newborn session on the blog, and this one seemed like the perfect one to start with. It was my first newborn(ish) session since the COVID-19 shutdown and quarantine started back in March, so we had some special safety measures in place. We were supposed to do this session back in March, and we postponed to late May, so he was about three months old for his photos. One of my favorite things about newborn sessions is getting to snuggle and love on these sweet baby clients of mine, so it was hard not even being able to swaddle him up myself, but his Mama did a great job on that front. 🙂 And Mack was an absolute angel!

I can’t tell you how great has it felt to be back in my element and working with my client families again. So many of them have become friends over the years, and I have truly missed them! Thank you to this sweet family in particular for inviting me into their home and trusting me to photograph this special season of life for them during these crazy times. I’m sure it’s a session they’ll never forget. 😉

Collins + Connor are ONE! – East Cobb | Atlanta Children’s Photographer

Our twins, Collins and Connor, are ONE today! We made it!! What started as the shock of a lifetime when we found out at our first ultrasound that we were having not one, but two babies… continued with another surprise when we found out it was identical girls. What a year it has been since then! Collins and Connor have rocked our family’s world in the best way possible, and we couldn’t imagine life without them. I mean… we would be so bored! The almost nine months leading up to their birth was nothing short of wild. Because of the special type of twin pregnancy that they were, we went to approximately 32 dr appts, about 20 of which were to the perinatal specialist. I had about 18 ultrasounds and 4 NSTs in that time! They’ve been turning heads since the minute (2 minutes apart, actually) that they were born, and things haven’t changed since. They light up the room with their toothy little grins, and I have a feeling we’re about to have a house full of chattering little girls before long. I can’t wait to see what kind of adventures these two and their big sister go on. Collins and Connor are the grand finale to our family, and they are the biggest double blessing that we never knew we needed. Happy first birthday, baby girls. We love you forever and ever!

*A little note about these photos… given that we’re in the midst of a worldwide pandemic with shelter in place orders, we couldn’t exactly go out to some of my favorite shooting locations for their milestone photos. Instead, we popped them in the stroller and walked down to this path in our neighborhood that we have been walking every single day since this stuff started. There have been the most beautiful pink flowers on these trees, and I am so happy we got to do these photos before the rain came later that week and washed most of them away. We also had a little cake smash session in the backyard, but the grass was too enticing for the girls, so we had to move things indoors mid-smash. 🙂 Trying to wrangle and photograph twin one year olds smashing cake with only the help of Daddy proved to be a challenge, but I’m so glad we made it work. Scroll through for the best cake shot at the end.

Fall Mini Session Highlights, Round 2 | Atlanta Family Photographer

As anyone in the Atlanta area knows, we’ve been inundated with SO.MUCH.RAIN the past several months, and the fall was no exception. There were a handful of sessions that we had to reschedule numerous times due to weather, but we ended up getting them all done. We were scheduled to do mini sessions at a cute little Buckhead park in late October, but we had to bump a few up due to that pesky rain. I got to meet two lovely new families and photograph some dear friends that morning, too. I love this park because even though there’s a playground right by the entrance, if you veer away from that, it always feels secluded and quiet, no matter what time of day I’ve been. The tall trees and open space in the back, as well as the pretty wooden bridge and stone steps, are my favorite spots to photograph families loving on each other here. Enjoy some favorites!
